You've probably have heard this phrase used before, but what exactly does farm to fork or farm to table mean? And why do so many chefs want to implement this into their cooking & associate this with their restaurants? To simply put it, Farm to fork is a phrase used to describe the style of cooking or production of food in which farm fresh organic produce, meats and dairy are used. Chefs will often work with local farms and farmers markets to purchase their ingredients. This not only supports local farmers but it also makes for the best & freshest ingredients you can buy. If you have ever compared a farm fresh egg with a store bought egg that is not pasture raised it often looks and tastes very different. The egg yolk in farm fresh eggs is not only a brighter, richer color the yolk is creamier & has a complex, fresh, rich taste. This is due to eggs being harvested fresh from the farm vs. having eggs sit for a longer period of time on the store shelves. Store bought eggs also go through a vigorous washing process, which removes the natural barrier known as the "bloom. This natural barrier keeps the eggs naturally fresh, when washed with soap and disinfected it removes this natural barrier making the eggs susceptible to easy spoilage and shorter shelf life.......................
